Plot summary
As a child Hector was left at an orphanage while he was treated for an illness, and his parents never came back for him. Thirty-five years later he still lives there, surrounded by children who are his playmates, in the care of nuns who have never prepared him for life outside. Then an aunt, Ella, remembers that he exists. She and her husband Achiel run a bakery and are looking for cheap help, and Ella is busy rehearsing the female lead in a romantic play that a Hollywood director is expected to attend. Their son Jos cares only about bicycle racing. Achiel, troubled by his blood pressure, suspects Ella of an affair with Gregoire, the father of Jos's rival Swa and her male lead. Hector is not as clumsy as he looks.
