Plot summary
In the village of Maaskantje in North Brabant, Gerrie, Richard, Rikkert, Robbie and Barrie lose their jobs. The five blame the economic crisis, though their late arrivals and carelessness at work are what cost them. Gerrie is thrown out by his mother, Rikkert splits from his girlfriend Manuela, and a fire leaves Barrie without a home, so they move in with Richard and Robbie. A declined bank card and a refused request for more benefits at the employment office end their income, and the group decides to pay for nothing at all, filling containers with fuel at the petrol station and carrying lager out of the supermarket.
