Plot summary
Thijs is a widower who grows tomatoes in the Netherlands. His grown daughters Vonne and Aafke want him to take a flat in a high-rise, but his grandson Omar tells him to stay where he is, and Thijs takes the advice. Omar turns up listless, a runaway from school and home, and fixes Thijs up with Jacky, a lively Flemish woman who keeps coming to his door until he agrees, then draws him into evenings out and plans for a dance contest. Omar is in love with Meral, a Turkish girl whose brother Erhan will let a boy court her only after beating him at oil wrestling. Thijs once wrestled at fairgrounds, and he takes on Omar's training.
