Plot summary
Minoes, a cat, laps up a chemical liquid spilled by a truck and wakes as a young woman who still meows, purrs, catches mice, fears dogs and eats raw fish. She soon meets Tibbe de Vries, a shy journalist for the newspaper in the town of Killendoorn who has trouble writing good articles. Minoes offers him what she knows: the town cats bring her news, and through this Cat Press Service Tibbe's stories improve. In return he gives her food and a place to stay. One subject stays untouched, the chemical factory owner Meneer Ellemeet, whom the townspeople admire as an animal lover while the cats tell a different story.
