Plot summary
At Truham-Higgs, Charlie Spring wins the vote for Head Boy after campaigning against bullying, and he steps in when he sees a younger pupil, Alfie, being picked on. When Mr. Lange refuses to sanction a Pride club, Mr. Ajayi opens his classroom for it, and other students, including Alfie, drop in there. Nick Nelson, meanwhile, has settled on Leeds as his first choice for university, and the distance from Charlie weighs on him. Writing the personal statement leaves him stuck, so Charlie helps him shape it and pushes him toward volunteering outside school, which he takes up at a dog shelter.
