Plot summary
Three janitors, Moe, Larry and Curley-Joe, work at a space center. When a mishap on the job sends all three of them into space, their rocket comes down on Venus. There they meet a unicorn that talks and a tarantula of giant size that breathes fire. The planet also holds a computer that has wiped out every living thing on it, and the computer builds three robot duplicates of the janitors, one evil copy of each. The original cut showed only the three of them after the launch, so a party scene was added later to introduce other characters.

- In the original cut of Have Rocket, Will Travel, the Stooges were the only people seen after the early rocket-launch scene, until the studio insisted a party scene be added to introduce other characters.
- Have Rocket, Will Travel was Joe DeRita's first screen appearance with the Three Stooges; he got the spot after replacing Joe Besser, when Columbia Pictures stopped making the Stooges' shorts series.
- Although billed as the Three Stooges' first starring feature, Have Rocket, Will Travel was not: their actual first was Rockin' in the Rockies (1945), the only feature film with Moe, Larry and Curly.
- The soundtrack record for Have Rocket, Will Travel sold well but never charted highly, because Columbia Pictures did not afford the record much publicity.
