Plot summary
Hannie Caulder is a frontier wife. The Clemens brothers, three inept brothers, arrive at the horse station where she lives with her husband after a failed bank robbery raid. They act friendly at first, then murder Hannie's husband, gang-rape her, burn the house down and leave Hannie for dead in the burning house. Hannie survives and recruits the bounty hunter Thomas Luther Price, who trains her to be a gunfighter so she can take her revenge on the three men.

- Quentin Tarantino named this film as an inspiration for Kill Bill, singling out Robert Culp's performance as a mentor figure and drawing a direct comparison between his character and Pai Mei's relationship with the Bride.
- Kennedy later said the producers had cut the film into "a mess," so he recut it himself, and the reworked version sold to Paramount within half an hour of being screened.
