Plot summary
Sean Porter, a supervisor and former football player at the Kilpatrick Detention Center in Los Angeles, watches teenagers return to street gangs and drug dealing once they leave. He proposes a football team, the Kilpatrick Mustangs, so the boys have something to belong to and learn responsibility and discipline. He picks a handful of them and orders them to practice the next day. Willie Weathers belongs to the 88's and Kelvin Owens to the 95's, two rival gangs, and the two do not get along. Porter's superiors back the plan, and the Mustangs enter a league that includes the Barrington Panthers, one of its best teams.
