Plot summary
Kurt Sloane comes from a Venice, California family of martial artists, and his older brother Eric is the champion. Kurt lacks the instincts for the sport and has long stood in Eric's shadow. Fight promoter Marcia offers Eric paid work in Thailand against Tong Po, the Muay Thai champion, and Eric accepts despite Kurt's objections. An envelope then arrives carrying Eric's title medal and a plane ticket to Bangkok; in Thailand, Kurt sees Tong Po beat his brother in the ring and is warned to leave the country. He stays. Liu, a Thai police officer, wants the underground fights shut down, while her superior Wattona is in Marcia's pay. Master Durand, who trained Eric in Muay Thai, at first refuses to train Kurt, then changes his mind when he sees Kurt's determination.
