Plot summary

Patsy Powers is a homely nurse at a hospital where the other nurses keep to their cliques, and she pines for Dr. Dox, the physician whose attention goes to pretty Goodie Tueschuze instead. Then a foul-smelling woodsman arrives with an axe stuck in his head, and while the other nurses scatter, Patsy stays with him and the two form a warm bond. A kiss between them ends with the woodsman biting into her flesh, and over the following days a zombie virus gradually takes hold of her, altering her eating habits and giving her a confidence that catches Dr. Dox's eye. Perplexed by the change in her mousy coworker and set on keeping the doctor for herself, Goodie starts asking questions about it.
