Golden Kamuy Movie (2024) on Netflix

Plot summary

In late Meiji-era Hokkaido, Saichi Sugimoto, a veteran of the Russo-Japanese War known as Immortal Sugimoto, learns of Ainu gold stolen by a man named Noppera-bo. Noppera-bo tattooed the location across 24 prisoners before he was sent to Abashiri prison. After a jail break, he offers those prisoners half the fortune if they find it. Sugimoto confirms the story and decides to collect every piece of the map so he can pay to restore Umeko's eyesight; her husband Toraji died in the war. When a bear attacks him, Asirpa, an Ainu girl whose father Noppera-bo murdered, saves him. They join forces, though their goals differ, and soldiers from the Seventh Division and Hijikata enter the hunt.
