Plot summary
The payroll train arrives with everyone aboard dead and the money gone. A survivor names Bill San Antonio, a man thought killed in a duel with Cat. Hutch, an old acquaintance who works for an insurance company, carries Cat the news. Cat recalls that Bill's henchman Bud supplied the pistol for that duel. He takes Hutch's horse in the night to track Bill, and Hutch follows him at a distance. The gang's loot has gone missing as well, and Bud blames Cat for it. Cat wants a bigger share of the gold than the insurance company is offering, while the gold itself sits at a hidden spot near the Mexican border.
