Plot summary
Earth lies nearly destroyed, and Bran Marshall leaves it for Rhea, a planet that has turned against the people it calls Earthers. He gets aboard a Rhean supply ship and finds its crew killed, with one person still alive: Ohsha, a female warrior. She and Bran attack each other. Meteorites then strike the vessel, and it falls toward the planet beneath them, where humans live. Bran and Ohsha must work together to steady the craft before it reaches those people.
