Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Friday the 13th Part III (1982)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Jason's hockey mask came out of a lighting check: the 3-D effects supervisor Martin Sadoff, a hockey fan, supplied a Detroit Red Wings goaltender mask to Miner, who loved it, but test shots showed it was too small, so makeup effects director Doug White enlarged it using a technique called VacuForm.
- The film was the first to remove E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial from the number-one box office spot.
- Marks Polarized Corporation filed a $25 million lawsuit against Paramount, alleging that the studio was monopolising the marketing of 3-D exhibition materials and providing deductions to theaters that chose to lease projection lenses directly from Paramount.
- The original storyline was meant to follow a post-traumatic Ginny Field from the previous film, but the idea was abandoned when the actress Amy Steel declined to reprise her role.
- Two prosthetic face masks were created for Richard Brooker to wear underneath the hockey mask; the one used for scenes where the hockey mask was removed was composed of approximately 11 different appliances and took about six hours to apply to his face.
- The actor Larry Zerner recalled that perfecting the 3-D effects often superseded the performances: shooting the convenience store scene, where he had to throw a wallet at the camera, the direction was simply to hit the camera.
