Plot summary
Ellie Blake and her friends Karl and Monica talk up the school's annual scavenger hunt, and her little brother Fletcher swipes the hourglass their late father gave her. Their mother, Katherine, is busy planning her wedding to Mike and wants Ellie to take on more responsibility, while Ellie wishes her mother understood her. When the two fight over the hourglass, they swap bodies. They need the identical hourglass that Katherine was given, but she sold hers. Katherine goes to Ellie's school in her daughter's place, where Savannah's bullying and Ellie's crush Adam are waiting, and Ellie stays home to handle the wedding plans.
