Plot summary
Jay Austin sells used cars in Georgia, and he sells them dishonestly: he overcharges buyers, makes promises he does not keep, and runs the lot his own way. The business leaves him deep in debt and close to foreclosure, and his practices have strained his marriage to Judy and alienated his son Todd. Flipping through television channels one day, he stops on a pastor who says that people end up where their own decisions have put them. Jay takes the words to heart. He apologizes to Judy and Todd and tells his staff that the dealership will deal straight with customers from then on. Two salesmen leave over the change, and a young man named Kevin Cantrell asks Jay for six weeks of work.
