Plot summary
Three teenagers in the year 1957 live in a world of big-finned cars, rockabilly music, greaser culture and innocent teen love. Johnny Keen is a square teen; Susie is his girl; Maynard is his beatnik friend. In one night their world turns upside down when Martian zombies arrive. The visitors smoke space weed and are bent on harvesting the earth women. Only Johnny can stand against them, with help from Maynard. What stands in his way is his own squareness: defeating the invaders would take a kind of cool he does not have. Johnny has to become cool enough in time.
