Plot summary
The menu at Flakes, a New Orleans eatery, is cold cereal and nothing else. Willie Bergeron, an old hippie, owns the place, and Neal Downs, a struggling musician, runs it for a loyal clientele. Neal's girlfriend calls herself Miss Pussy Katz and designs art clothing built around radical themes. When a competing franchise opens across the street, she applies at the new establishment, a way of paying Neal back for not hiring her at his own shop. Regulars gather at Flakes to debate cereal history and the ideal ratio of milk to flakes, and an aspiring capitalist copies the shop's concept.
