Plot summary
Martijn, a Dutch jazz pianist, is seized by terrorists soon after he reaches Morocco, where he has come to launch a food assistance program for children. Gavin, his travel guide, is with him when they are taken, and the two are held bound and blindfolded. The captors press him about the money behind the program; he says he does not know where it came from. Ahmat, who leads the questioning, enjoys chess and plays a game with him. Aicha arrives to tend to Martijn's wounds as the days pass. He thinks back to his girlfriend Saadia and his life in the Netherlands.
