Did you know?!Facts and trivia about First Daughter (2004)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- In March 1999 the actor Jerry O'Connell sold a screenplay he had written to Regency Enterprises for a six-figure sum, intending to star in it; the project was pushed back, Rob Thomas was hired to rewrite the script, and O'Connell later received a “story by” credit.
- Reviewer Mike McGranaghan pointed out that the film was very similar to the concurrently made Chasing Liberty, which coincidentally had the working title First Daughter and also had the President's daughter trying to experience life away from the White House.
- Given a wide release on 2,260 screens, the film opened in fifth place but fell out of the top ten by its third weekend, finishing with $10.6 million worldwide against a budget of $30 million.
- The opening and closing narration in First Daughter is provided by the film's own director, Forest Whitaker, rather than by one of its actors.
