Plot summary
Green River holds a Christmas Eve parade that Grace Long's family has run for three generations, and a national morning show plans to broadcast this year's edition. Grace takes over the organizing, and the town loses its Santa when Tom White, who trains Santas and elves at his own school, injures his arm. The mayor's son Clint is put forward as a replacement. Tom's son Ben, once groomed to follow his father, lives in New York, where he writes and drives for a ride service. Grace travels there, pretends to be a customer, and tries to bring him back for the parade.
