Plot summary
Kyle is pompous and self-absorbed, a writer who is unhappy in his life and wants to repeat the success of his first novel. He has been stuck ever since, unable to repeat that early success, and his life comes apart until he moves back in with his wildly eccentric family. Across the street lives Joy, spunky and vivacious, who enlists Kyle in her efforts to make the world a better place. Time with her leaves him feeling alive in a way he has not felt in ages, and it stirs his writing again. Joy asks him to write her obituary.
