Plot summary

Billy Herrera is a Miami architect whose marriage to Ingrid has reached a breaking point; at counseling, she tells him she wants a divorce. Before they can tell their daughters, Sofia arrives with her own announcement: she is engaged to Adan Castillo, a lawyer, and wants to marry within a month before moving to Mexico for a non-profit job. Billy and Ingrid agree to keep the divorce quiet until the wedding is over. Billy would rather celebrate with a large traditional Cuban wedding, while Sofia and Adan picture something smaller. Adan's wealthy father Hernan arrives in Miami, and he and Billy disagree about the cost and scale of the wedding, while Sofia asks her sister Cora, an aspiring fashion designer, to make her gown.
