Plot summary
Luke Edmunds proposes to Emily Meyers during his brother's wedding celebration, and she accepts after a brief pause. Both work as analysts at One Crest Capital, a Manhattan hedge fund, and their romance stays hidden from their co-workers. The next day, one of the firm's portfolio managers is dismissed. Emily tells Luke that she overheard colleagues say he was being considered as the replacement, and the two celebrate that night. Campbell, the firm's chief executive, summons Emily late at night and tells her the promotion is hers instead. She breaks the news to Luke with reluctance, and he voices his support.
