Expecting a Miracle (2009) on Netflix

Plot summary

Pete and Donna Stanhope live in Los Angeles and want a child. When medical problems rule that out, the strain begins to break their marriage apart. They leave on a vacation and get stuck in Dommatina, a small town in Mexico, after their car gives out. There they meet Pepillo, a boy whose leg was injured in an accident that also killed his parents, his grown brother Juan, who keeps the town's cars running, and Juan's fiancée Magdalena, who cares for the village children. Father Arturo, the local priest, is preparing a flying machine for the yearly fiesta, and Pete pitches in while they wait for the car parts they have ordered. Pepillo tells Pete he believes the saint of the village will cure him after his flight.
