Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Evil Dead Rise (2023)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The production used over 6,500 liters of fake blood, made from a food-dye, high-fructose-corn-syrup and water recipe devised by special effects supervisor Brendon Durey; the volume needed was so large that a commercial food manufacturer had to be hired to produce it in bulk shipping containers.
- The elevator-filling-with-blood sequence was achieved practically by lowering the built elevator set into a 6,000-liter tank of fake blood with a forklift, while the following shot, an homage to The Shining, used large "dump tanks" on a plywood set to pour blood into the lobby at the right speed.
- Because cleaning up the elaborate blood-elevator set would have taken about eight hours, the crew only had time to reshoot the shot once that same day if the first attempt failed; director Lee Cronin said they got the whole complex sequence right on their first pass.
- For a gruesome close-up sound involving an eye, Bruce Campbell personally created the effect by furiously eating an apple into a microphone as a foley artist, in addition to his voice cameo on the film's phonograph record.
