Plot summary
EO is a grey donkey in a Polish circus act, where Kasandra performs beside him and cares for him. Campaigners for animal rights want the circus closed, and once it shuts down EO is loaded onto a truck and kept in a horse stable, where other horses run loose and are pampered. After he knocks over a shelf of trophies, he is moved to a farm, where he turns listless and refuses to eat and carries children on rides through woodland. Kasandra comes to visit him one night and brings a carrot muffin for his birthday. Once she leaves, he slips through the fence to follow her and loses his way.
