Plot summary
In 1973, a woman lives alone on an island off Cornwall, where she holds a wildlife volunteer's post. Her days go to a single rare flower, whose condition she notes. A fruticose lichen appears on the bloom within three days, and on her body as well. The island also holds a sinister standing stone, a teenage girl, a preacher, groups of older women and of young girls, and miners who haunt the tunnels. A fisherman is her only human contact.

- Enys Men was shot over 21 days in West Penwith in spring 2021 during the COVID-19 lockdown with a smaller crew than planned, and the production produced only 4.55 tonnes of emissions, which were offset, against around 3,000 tonnes for a typical film.
- The exposed film stock was processed at the Kodak Film Lab at Pinewood Studios and scanned in 4K, with the lab team told not to clean it, leaving dust and particulates in the image, and not to perform any image stabilization.
- Because Enys Men was shot without a sound camera, every sound effect and line of dialogue was mixed via ADR in post-production using captured sound.
- The film was promoted bilingually, in English and Cornish, and its Cornish posters are thought to be the first instance of a distributed feature film having them.
- Mark Jenkin composed the score on an analog monophonic synthesizer and tape loop, while Gwenno Saunders composed the ancient-sounding Celtic May song "Kan Me" for the end credits.
- Mark Jenkin's childhood visits to the real Merry Maidens stone circle in Cornwall, and lying awake years later wondering what the stones might be up to at night, were the starting point for Enys Men.
