Plot summary
Kath shares a house in the London suburbs with Kemp, her aging father, whom she calls DaDa. She is middle-aged and lonely. One day, in the cemetery near home, she comes upon a young man, Mr Sloane, exercising and sunbathing on a grave, and asks him to move in as her lodger. He agrees, and she seduces him. Her brother Ed, who keeps his homosexuality private, is taken with the newcomer as well and employs him as chauffeur for his pink 1959 Pontiac Parisienne convertible, giving him a tight leather uniform to wear. Sloane enjoys setting brother and sister at odds with each other.

- Douglas Hickox and Doug Kentish set up Canterbury Films, mostly a commercials company, and had to buy the rights to Joe Orton's play off a German company; Hickox admitted Orton was not a subject he would normally have picked, but it was his opportunity.
- Beryl Reid wrote in her memoirs that Entertaining Mr Sloane became a cult film despite not being an immediate commercial success, with people trying to get videos of it, and called it her favorite film.
- Georgie Fame sang the theme song and released it as the B-side of his 1970 single "Somebody Stole My Thunder".
