Plot summary
Casey, a dapper thief, works the crowds at an airport before meeting his old friend Harry, a professional pickpocket. In Seattle, Ray tries clumsy lifts of watches and wallets in Union Station while Sandy, bound for Chicago, watches with amusement. Ray makes off with her wristwatch; as they talk, her purse and suitcase go with a thief nobody sees, leaving her stuck in the city with nothing. Ray offers to help, and the two become a couple. A fence points Ray to a restaurant in Pioneer Square, where Casey and Harry are recruiting for a traveling wire mob. Given money for new clothes, Sandy and Ray learn the role of the stall, the distractor who clears the way while Harry makes the dip.
