Plot summary
May is a single mother in the Echo Park district of Los Angeles, raising her son Henry while she tries to build an acting career. Next door, August, an Austrian bodybuilder, works toward becoming a successor to his hero, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and appears in a deodorant commercial. Jonathan delivers pizza; drawn to May the moment she opens her door, he rents the spare room in her apartment. He entertains Henry and writes songs while May pursues an acting job that means delivering strip-o-grams to private homes. August, meanwhile, goes to a reception at the Austrian embassy, hoping to meet the man he admires.
