Plot summary
Pete and Omar are half-brothers. Their parents die when a hot air balloon comes down in a safari park, and the boys are raised by their grandmother. Her death leaves Omar information about his father, a man kept secret from him. Ellen and Ken, the boys' aunt and uncle, take Pete in easily but are icy toward Omar, because he is half Indian and no blood relation. When the couple announce they mean to adopt only Pete, Omar heads for Blackpool to find his father, and Pete will not be left behind. On the beach Omar meets pink-haired Amy, and the incoming tide carries off the suitcase holding their money.
