Behind the camera
Pepperdine and Joanna Scanlan set up a production company called George & George, named for George Eliot and George Sand, two women who used men's names so their writing would be taken seriously.
Early training
At 27, Pepperdine applied to East 15 Acting School in Debden, Essex, since Alison Steadman, whom she admired, had trained there. She got a place on a one-year postgraduate course.
A change of course
Pepperdine and Melanie Hudson created the comedy duo Hudson and Pepperdine. The pair performed together at the Edinburgh Fringe, then a BBC Radio 4 show and French and Saunders' agent picked them up.
Getting ready for a role
From 2013 to 2015, Pepperdine appeared as Gwen in Jessica Hynes' sitcom Up the Women, which dealt with the Suffragette movement. The false teeth she wore for Gwen were later reused for her part as Princess Ann in The Windsors.
