Plot summary
The war against Abaddon has been lost and the dragons are gone. One knight still crosses the lands of Agonos, hoping to gather enough fighting men to face the demon lord again. A healer describes a vision in which a single dragon survived, and a young squire who is eager for the task travels with him in search of the creature of the old tales. Abaddon's forces are already moving toward the human kingdoms, and without the dragon, nothing stands in their way. The knight does not know whether the creature is real, or whether, if it is found, it would take up the fight again.
