Plot summary
Every Saturday night, a group of young men around twenty gathers at a Los Angeles restaurant called Don's Plum, and often brings women they have just met. Ian, turned down twice at a jazz bar, asks a waitress he knows to come along. Amy's boyfriend pushes her out of his car, and she hitchhikes; Jeremy, an aspiring actor, picks her up. Jeremy and Derek run into an acquaintance, Leon, and Derek takes Leon's phone and brushes him off. Brad, who is bisexual, has just slept with Sara and asks her to come along, provided he can act as if they are strangers. The friends order from Flo, a waitress unhappy with her job and with her affair with Don, the restaurant's owner.
