Plot summary
The Wade family travels from the United States to Mexico, where Elliot Wade obtains ownership of the Dolly Dearest doll factory. Their new home stands near the underground tomb of Sanzia, and when an archaeologist breaks open the sarcophagus, the spirit of an ancient devil child is let loose and takes refuge in a porcelain doll. Jessica, the youngest Wade, picks that doll from a shelf of well-preserved toys and keeps it with her. She grows violent and obsessed with it, and stays calm only when her father is around. Camilla, the housekeeper, believes the doll is controlling the girl, and Jessica's older brother Jimmy finds the entrance to the cave his father warned him to stay away from.
