Plot summary
Doc West has come to a Santa Fe post office to send marked bills to his daughter when bandits rob it. He rides after them and meets Silver, a boy who says the bandits headed for the nearby town. There Silver's stepfather, the rancher Nathan Mitchell, is quarreling with the rival rancher Victor Baker until Sheriff Roy Basehart and the schoolteacher Denise Stark break it up. In the saloon the ranch hand Garvey offers West a round of poker.
