Plot summary
Emir Fellah fought for Algerian independence and then settled in France, where he raised a family. His granddaughter Neige grew up close to him, sheltered as a child from a toxic home. When he dies, her life feels empty. Her relationship with François has ended, she is on bad terms with her parents Pierre and Caroline, who are separated, and she sees little of her siblings. She begins to ask how much of the trouble in her family comes from its mixed French and Algerian ancestry, and how much from the different loyalties the two countries ask of the same people. Tensions among her extended family grow.
