Plot summary
Anne works as a lawyer in Paris. She is married to Pierre, and they have two young daughters. Pierre has a son, Théo, who is seventeen and comes from an earlier marriage. Théo moves into the family home. He and Anne clash. Anne and Théo begin an affair. The affair puts Anne's career and her family at risk. Théo is fragile.

- Samuel Kircher, the son of actors Irène Jacob and Jérôme Kircher, made his film debut as the teenage stepson Théo; his brother Paul, originally scheduled for the part, recommended him to Breillat.
