Plot summary
Frances "Baby" Houseman is an affluent, college-bound young woman who plans to study medicine. In the late summer of 1963, she arrives at Kellerman's, a resort in the Catskills, with her father, Dr. Jake Houseman, her mother, Marjorie, and her sister, Lisa. The family is spending the summer there. At the resort, Baby meets Johnny Castle, the working-class dance instructor, and his dance partner, Penny Rivera. Baby falls in love with Johnny.
