Plot summary
Greg Heffley and his friend Rowley watch a video of Mac Digby, an internet celebrity, at Corny's, a family restaurant. Susan announces a road trip for Meemaw's 90th birthday party, and Greg is sent into the play area to pull Manny out of a tube. In the ball pit a dirty diaper fastens itself to his hand, onlookers film his reaction, and the footage makes him a viral joke called Diaper Hands. Learning that Mac Digby will appear at Player Expo, Greg hopes a photo with him will bury the nickname. The family packs the van, Frank considers flying, and Greg suggests loading the luggage into Frank's boat. Susan confiscates the boys' phones for a technology-free vacation.
