Plot summary
Kate Bowman is a social worker who looks into the deaths of people who died in their sleep after her twin sister Beth dies suddenly. Each victim had reported a supernatural force appearing to them while they suffered from episodes of sleep paralysis, a condition that leaves a person unable to move during sleep. A doctor warns Kate that an evil entity haunts people as they sleep, and she brushes the warning aside. When the entity starts to haunt her friends and loved ones, Kate fights to stay awake, and she turns to Beth's boyfriend Evan and the doctor for help.
