Plot summary
A bank robbery in Tipton by outlaw Kyle Rusk and his men ends in an ambush at their hotel hideout by U.S. Marshal Butch Hayden's taskforce. Kyle gets away, and a wounded man tells the marshals about a farm in Burnham, Georgia. There they take his wife Emily into custody, a wanted outlaw with a $500,000 bounty for killing an abusive stepfather who was a police officer and for shooting a bank security guard. Hayden requests more manpower from Sheriff John Dorsey, whose standing with the public has fallen, whose marriage is in trouble, and who is still shaken by a hostage standoff six months before. At the farmhouse, the deputies holding Emily begin to turn on one another as she works on their doubts.
