Frank Richards
Biography
Frank Richards was an American character actor, known for playing hoodlums and thugs with a threatening presence. He was born in New York City and grew up in Fall River, Massachusetts. His acting career started in stock theater on Cape Cod, which he fit around a job driving a fruit truck for long hours, and he spent eight years in stock companies. He also worked on Broadway in The World We Make, Brown Danube, Embezzled Heaven and The Wanhope Building. Following his wartime military service, he took lessons in speech, dialects and diction in New York while also doing radio and television work. Over a career that ran from 1940 into the middle of the 1980s, he was seen in roughly 150 films and television shows, among them three episodes of Adventures of Superman and one episode of The Lone Ranger from 1953. He ended his screen career with A Woman Under the Influence (1974), a John Cassavetes film.
