Plot summary
James dies in a car accident, leaving his son Isaac and Isaac's stepmother Laura to grieve. A social worker, Mary, tells Laura that Isaac will likely go to a foster home unless she takes legal guardianship of him. Laura has struggled to connect with Isaac since she married James, and family friend Robert tries to help the boy through his loss. After the funeral, the dog Bella chases a creature out of Isaac's bedroom window, and Isaac, believing his father has come back, sees it wearing James' face. Blue lights and a figure outside the house leave Laura frightened for their safety.

- Director Benjamin Barfoot drew on the films Alien, Under the Skin and The Exorcist, plus video artist Chris Cunningham, while writing the script, and based it on the trauma of his parents' childhood divorce.
- Barfoot chose the title because he liked how "bit punky" and "kind of weird" it sounded, but considered changing it after actress Julia Brown and others asked whether it had sexual connotations.
