Plot summary
A woman of about thirty, Girlie has spent nine years in New York and works as a programmer. Returning to her Manhattan apartment from a trip, she takes a taxi from JFK, and the driver, Clark, a middle-aged man from the old Hell's Kitchen who now lives in Jackson Heights, Queens, begins talking about globalization and how apps are making cabs obsolete. He reads her as a New Yorker from the way she carries herself and gives her destination. When the taxi stops in traffic behind an accident, Girlie checks her phone and finds a string of messages from a man. Clark asks about her trip and her older half sister; he asks whether she has someone, and she admits the man is married.

- Daisy Ridley was announced to star in the film in October 2017, based on a spec script by Christy Hall, but in June 2021 Dakota Johnson replaced her and Sean Penn was also cast; Johnson suggested Penn herself and personally sent him the script.
- Every scene set inside the taxi was shot on a sound stage using on-set virtual production: large LED video screens showed rendered digital environments, and Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn performed in front of them in real time.
