Plot summary
Teri Marshall leaves the gym and stops to collect parts for her boyfriend Rick Davenport, an inventor. Rick has developed the Cyclone, a motorcycle worth five million dollars, fitted with rocket launchers and laser guns and running on oxygen alone. The government funded the machine and now wants control of it, and local arms dealers see it as a fortune to be stolen and sold on the black market. Rick is killed by people who want the prototype, leaving Teri to keep the Cyclone out of the wrong hands. In a video he recorded, Rick told her she could trust Agent Bob Jenkins.

- Heather Thomas, the star of Cyclone, appeared on NBC's Late Night with David Letterman just before the film opened and denounced it, saying she had made it to pay her divorce bills and that it was coming to an airplane near you.
- Director Fred Olen Ray originally had Linda Blair in mind for the starring role of Cyclone, but Blair wanted an image change and more comedic roles.
- CineTel was adamantly against casting Huntz Hall, whom director Fred Olen Ray had loved as part of the Bowery Boys; the company only signed him after running out of more recognizable candidates and refused to give him a poster credit, which offended the actor.
- Stuntman Dar Robinson died in November 1986 on the set of Million Dollar Mystery, and Cyclone was dedicated to his memory along with that film and Lethal Weapon.
- Director Fred Olen Ray hired Paul Garson, a writer for motorsports magazines such as Hot Bike, to script Cyclone for $3,500 with one week to deliver a first draft, and Garson locked himself in a hotel room to make the deadline.
- Shooting was tense for director Fred Olen Ray: star Heather Thomas once threatened to not show up the next day unless she was given a pair of Fred Segal Tark'1 jeans, and she showed animosity toward her co-star Ashley Ferrare.
- The scene in which Heather Thomas is tortured had to be moved to a backstage area not intended for filming after the real soundstage became unavailable, which explains the distracting background noises heard in it.
