Plot summary
Dalton works security at a club in New York City. Frank Tilghman recruits him to take over security at the Double Deuce, his rundown club in Jasper, Missouri, where fights break out nightly and where Tilghman plans to invest. Dalton accepts on the condition that he has full authority, and he dismisses several employees for theft, drug dealing and behavior. He stays in a bare barn owned by Emmett, a farmer, and does not know that the mansion by the lake belongs to Brad Wesley, who controls Jasper through bribery, intimidation and violence.

- The New York City Police Department began using a scene from Road House as part of a mandatory, three-day retraining course for 22,000 officers expected to "be nice" under pressure.
- While filming the famous fistfight scene, Marshall Teague broke Patrick Swayze's ribs; the monster truck used in the film was Bigfoot #7, originally built for the production, and that scene alone cost $500,000 to film.
- Counting VHS, DVD, Blu-ray and streaming sales on top of its original theatrical run, Road House has taken in more than $203 million, far beyond its $61 million box office.
