Plot summary
Ted learns from Mr. Bloomsberry that the retiring museum head considers him the only candidate to succeed him, on condition that Ted deliver a presentation about his vision for the museum within a week. Maggie tells Ted that the people close to him need more attention than his career does, and he takes George to see Piccadilly, the great magician, whose act features an elephant named Kayla. When the trick makes the elephant vanish, George goes looking and discovers Kayla in the basement, where the two come upon an exit. Piccadilly alerts his security team, headed by Danno Wolfe, and Danno grows suspicious of Ted and George. In the apartment, the pair watch television coverage of Kayla's birthplace, a California animal park where her brother Tonga and her sister Layla live.
