Plot summary
Kate, a psychotherapist, is one of seven captives who wake in brightly lit cube-shaped rooms, each wall panel a door into another room. The others are Simon, a detective, Sasha, a blind teenager, Jerry, an engineer, Max, a game developer, Julia, a lawyer, and Mrs. Paley, a retired mathematician. Colonel Thomas Maguire tells the group that a code must be solved before anyone can leave, and when a wall begins to close in on them, they flee through the panels. Gravity pulls in a different direction from one chamber to the next, and Mrs. Paley and Jerry decide the structure may be a tesseract, or hypercube. Kate keeps noticing the number 60659 wherever they go, and every captive is linked in some way to Izon, a weapons manufacturer.
